Trento Longaretti was born in Treviglio (Bergamo) in 1916. He studies art in Milan, at the Lyceum and at the "Accademia of Brera"
from 1931 to 1939, where one of his teachers is Aldo Carpi. Some schoolmates of his are: Morlotti, Cassinari, Bergolli, Kodra, Cogorno,
Dobrzanski. He starts exposing paintings in 1936, but the war stops his activity that will start again in 1945, with various activities
(paintings, mosaics...). In 1953 he wins a national competition for the place of Director and Professor at the "Accademia Carrara"
of Bergamo where he has taught for 25 years.
He lives and works in Bergamo and in the "Cinqueterre", in Liguria.
He exposes in New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Ottawa and Munich. He has ten one-man shows in Switzerland, besides
lots of shows in Italy where his artistic formation becomes more and more effective in the atmosphere of "Corrente". Some of his
works can be found in Vaticano, in the "Duomo" of Milan or in "St. Ambrogio", in lots of churches from Calgary to Damasco,
in Museum of modern art of Basilea, "Musei Vaticani", "Galleria Ricci-Oddi" of Piacenza, "Pinacoteca Carrara"
of Bergamo, "Civica Galleria of Gallarate", "Galleria d'arte moderna" of Milan, etc...
He takes part at:
- the Venice Biennale in 1942, 1948, 1950 and in 1956
- the "Premio Bergamo" in 1939, 1940 and 1959
- the "Premio del Fiorino" in 1966 and 1969
- the "Quadriennale di Roma" in 1952
- lots of Italian art shows all over the world
Some of his anthological shows have been very important; we can consider for instance, the exhibitions at the "Palazzo dei Diamanti"
of Ferrara, at the "Palazzo della Ragione" of Bergamo and the "Permanente" of Milan. Other anthological shows of painting
and of graphics were realized in Bergamo, Piacenza, and at the "Centro S. Fedele" in Milan. 13 monographical studies were dedicated
to him from 1958 to 1992. Two one-man shows of particular importance are the ones organized in Bergamo "Longaretti-Brera anni Quaranta",
and the one in Milan with the title "Due maestri di due generazioni: Aldo Carpi e Trento Longaretti". In 1992 an exhibition in the
"Sala dei Giuristi" at the "Palazzo della Ragione" (Bergamo), named "Paesaggi e nature morte". In 1993 at the Museum
of the "Duomo" of Milan there was a show on the theme: "Il Sacro nella vita di un artista". In 1995 at the Palazzo Comunale
of Calcio (Bergamo) there was a show on the theme: "Tra realtà e visione", and at the Pinerolo Civic Collection there was a show
on the theme: "L'arte e il mistero cristiano". In 1996 in Bergamo there was a show: "Excursus. Longaretti da Brera alla Carrara",
